Sometimes I need a small project to make as a gift, or just something to give me a little break from a larger quilt project I’ve been working on. All of these projects can be made in a single day, most in just a few hours. It’s very satisfying to complete something from start to finish and even more so when you make someone’s day with its presentation. Everyone loves handmade gifts and they appreciate the time that went into making them. (Hint: you don’t have to tell them it was this easy!)
Some of the projects I will be adding are:
1. Luggage tags (This one is already online- see below)
2. Penny Pouch
3. Chinese Boxes
4. An Easy Bookmark
5. Bible Cover (This has been an old favorite)
And more to come…..
And then there are the “Block Busters.”
I have a lot of what I call “orphan blocks”. They are extra blocks leftover from making a quilt. Maybe I didn’t like that one in particular and left it out or maybe I just made too many to start with. Often times I will buy orphan blocks at an antique store or flea market. They come in sets , sometimes four or six or even as many as sixteen or twenty, in which case I would probably just put the whole quilt together. Anyway, somewhere a sweet quilter had started a quilt with these blocks and, for whatever reason, was unable to finish them.
These are some project ideas I have come up with to use these blocks so they don’t stay sitting in your basket waiting to come to life.
